New at Rik Reay Gallery Space: Chan Pisey

Our Books is pleased to be exhibiting new material by comic artist Chan Pisey from Saturday July 27, to Sunday August 25, 2013.

Ms. Chan Pisey is a young Cambodian comic artist and visual artist.

She originally studied graphic design at Phare Ponleu Selpak in Battambang, and continued her study at the French Institute’s Vocational Training Center.

Her work has been published by Action Aid, Action IEC, Catholic Relief Services, Besdong Meas, Room To Read, SVA, SIPAR, JVC, Family Health International, CARE, CCCC, DRI and numerous other organizations.

Her work has been exhibited at Java Arts, Meta-House and Centre Culturel Français.  She has also taught drawing classes for children at various places including Monument Books.

She has also participated in artist workshops and activities including the [Re]Generations teaching and training program, and Cambodia’s annual ’24 Hour Drawing Day’.

In addition to having her educational comics and illustrations published by numerous NGOs, her original stories have been published by the [Re]Generations project.

The artist has new stories currently under development, some pages here are ‘works in progress’ that are exhibited for the first time.
