Our Books February Update

i Feb 28, 2013 Comments Off by

The beginning of this month saw us moving back to our office after the crazy traffic of the Royal Funeral. We quickly settled back into our routine, with the minor (and welcome) disruption of a new son for Office / Project Manager Soeun Klo!

We were pleased to welcome writer/critic Andreas Knigge from Germany, who had some comics projects to discuss. Our Books was represented at BarCamp Angkor in a talk on e-books and e-comics!  Work also continued on the Our Day Anthology and collation of artwork for a new exhibition.

We wrapped up February with the premiere of our exhibition space at ‘Rik Reay’ restaurant on Street 178, 69c, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Our premiere exhibition featured art from ’24 Hour Comics Day 2012′ by Sao Sreymao, Veejay Joson, Peou Ty, Seng Visal, Kim Phally, Sin Yang Pirom, and Chan Pisey.

Stay tuned for more art and comics news at OurBooksCambodia.org!

Happy Holidays from Our Books

i Dec 24, 2012 Comments Off by

Warm greetings from Our Books Cambodia!

Dear Friends,

It’s been a busy year of research and growth for Our Books.
We’ve welcomed our new Assistant Project Manager Nhim Soknea to join local team members Soeun Klo (Projects Manager) and Kim Phally (Graphic Designer).

Our staff has kept busy assisting researchers and visitors, hosted art events, dug deeper into the history of Khmer comics, and shared its findings online and in print.  Publication of varied comics continued and our team was pleased to get overseas accolades for their efforts.
The team has also opened its doors to the Nou Hach Literary Journal, sharing resources and office space.

Our socially responsible enterprise Our Books Illustration and Design has kept quite busy doing comics and illustrations ranging from climate change to youth empowerment.
This year saw a particular enthusiasm for e-books, and we were happy to oblige! Stay tuned for more in the coming year!

Glad tidings for this holiday season, and best wishes for the New Year!
Managing Editor
John Weeks
